Chelsea midfielder Tiemue Bakayoko has returned to AC Milan on a two-year, repurchased loan agreement.
The 27-year-old Bakayoko moved to Chelsea from Monaco in 2017 for £ 40m, making him the club’s second most valuable contract at the time, behind Fernando Torres.
The former French national has played 29 Premier League games in his first season in London, with the club finishing in a disappointing fifth under Antonio Conte.
However, he failed to secure a spot on new coach Maurizio Sarri’s team and spent the 2018-19 season on loan at San Siro with Milan.
Bakayoko also spent the next two seasons on loan – with Monaco in France and Napoli in Italy, respectively.
Bakayoko played in Chelsea’s preseason under Thomas Tuchel but has not played in the Premier League this season, while N’Golo Kante, Jorginho and Mateo Kovacic preferred to play in center midfield.
