Last week at DS5: within the industryMichael Ruiz, Director of Supplier Diversity at Fannie Mae, discussed the lesser-known area of diversity and inclusion in the mortgage industry – “the peculiar world of supply chain diversity,” as he put it. He also elaborated on a study by the American Council on Mortgage Diversity on this topic.
“Diversity and inclusiveness are obviously of great importance in the industry … not enough attention is paid to the supply chain, in other words, from whom do we buy goods and services? And how these resources flow into these target communities. .. “
Regarding the survey, he says that while some analysis is still ongoing, he and the researchers are learning more about the importance of suppliers identifying themselves (business owned by women, owned by blacks, owned by Hispanics, etc.). Some caveats. and what it all means for practitioners.
