The Cabinet of Ministers plans to expand mortgage programs to provide Ukrainians with affordable housing.
This was stated by Prime Minister Denis Shmyhal at a meeting devoted to the issue of affordable housing for Ukrainians, including for privileged categories, Ukrinform reports with reference to the government portal.
“In total, thousands of families participate in preferential housing programs. Our task is to expand such programs as much as possible so that Ukrainians can improve their living conditions. First of all, this applies to those citizens who lost their homes due to the war in Russia. East, as well as other privileged categories of citizens. The expansion of the activities of the State Fund for Support of Youth Housing Construction and the Ukrainian Financial Housing Company indicates that the issue of providing Ukrainians with their own housing on favorable terms is indeed a priority area of the Government’s activity. work, ”said Shmygal.
The meeting was attended by Minister for Communities and Territories Alexei Chernyshov, Minister for Veterans Affairs Yulia Laputina, Defense Minister Andrei Taran, as well as representatives of the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, and the Ministry of Reintegration of the Temporarily Occupied Territories. Representatives of the Ministry for Communities and Territories reported on the progress of the projects of the State Fund for Support of Youth Housing Construction. In particular, within the framework of the Housing for Internally Displaced Persons program, funded by the German government through KfW, the first borrowers have already been identified and 150 candidates have been identified from among those registered in the project. In total, the German government has provided a grant of € 25.5 million through KfW to finance this program.
Representatives of the Ministry of Finance, in turn, said that currently there are two main programs of affordable mortgage lending in Ukraine: affordable mortgage at 7% and a financial leasing program at 5%. Officials also noted that a merger of the State Mortgage Organization and the Ukrainian Housing Finance Company is under way. Upon completion of the relevant process, it is planned to issue government bonds for UAH 20 billion, which will strengthen the process of mortgage lending in Ukraine.
