The Chicago-based developer who has helped find sites for many restaurants over the past three decades is now planning to launch two of its own fast food sites.
The owners of the Lee Fry Companies recently acquired A&W in North Aurora from a retiring franchisee and former Burger King in Addison, which they will transform into A&W, according to QSR magazine.
Lee Fry and his wife Karin plan to open at least five A&W sites. “Everyone we dealt with, from bankers to city planners, remembers A&W. We love that this is a 100-year-old brand with a great reputation, ”Karin Frye told QSR. “We also love that A&W is owned by a franchisee. Too many networks are making decisions that benefit shareholders and not franchisees. ”
The Frys was backed by A&W CEO Kevin Bazner, who personally worked with the couple to test potential locations in Chicago. A&W company, founded 102 years ago, is known for its beer, which is prepared in its restaurants. It has over 900 offices in the US and Asia.
The new Addison A&W, located at 1012 N. Rohlwing Road, is due to open by the end of 2021.
