The 63-year-old Texas property developer and TV host has been charged with sexual assault in Orange County, including raping an unconscious 16-year-old while on vacation in Laguna Beach.
William Hutchinson of Highland Park, Texas, was charged with one count of raping an unconscious man and five counts of sexual assault, the Orange County District Attorney’s Office said Friday.
The Orange County charges emerged the day after Hutchinson was charged with sexual assault in Texas, allegedly involving a 16-year-old girl from Hutchinson’s Dallas home.
A well-known developer from Texas, Hutchinson appeared on the Lifetime series Marrying Millions, which featured his relationship with a woman 40 years his junior.
According to Texas media reports, Hutchinson is the founder of Dunhill Partners, which helped revitalize the Dallas Design District and operate retail space across the country.
The Orange County attorney’s office says Hutchinson brought two 16-year-old girls with him on trips earlier this year to his country home in Laguna Beach.
During an April trip, Orange County prosecutors allege that Hutchinson raped one of the teenagers and committed four acts of sexual assault against her. The girl refused to take part in a second trip to Laguna Beach in May, prosecutors said when Hutchinson was accused of sexually assaulting a second girl.
Hutchinson is reportedly facing similar charges in the Texas case.
The Dallas Morning News, citing an affidavit with an arrest warrant, reported that the 17-year-old had told detectives that Hutchinson had given her and other minors alcohol and had inappropriately touched her. Researchers from Texas wrote that the teenager reported that he woke up after falling asleep on the couch and found that Hutchinson had raped her, the newspaper said.
Hutchinson, in a statement to TMZ after the Texas case went public, denied the allegations, saying, “Anyone who knows me in this city knows I am incapable of assault, sexual or otherwise.” He was not immediately contacted for comment on the Orange County allegations.
In an interview with Fox News about reality TV before the allegations were made public, Hutchinson described his belief that women are more mature than men and that older men “will be gentlemen” and take care of young women.
“I’ve always thought that a really good working relationship is when there is an age difference,” Hutchinson told Fox News. “It doesn’t have to be 40 years old. Maybe five years. It could have been 10 years. But when there is a difference in age, there is an automatic respect for the elder – for me – for her. And there is an automatic caring – I’m with her – for the younger one.
According to the Orange County District Attorney’s Office, Hutchinson reported to Texas police on Wednesday and was released on $ 30,000 bail.
Hutchinson’s arrest warrant has since been issued in Orange County, prosecutors said.
If convicted on Orange County charges, Hutchinson faces up to 8 years in state prison and two and a half years in county jail.
