Connor Taylor follows in Harry Suttar’s footsteps as he goes on loan.

The 19-year-old center-back, like Southtar, has signed up for the season with Joey Barton and former Stockholm defender Clint Hill – but this time for Bristol Rovers, who will be looking to fight for the top spot in the league. Two.

Taylor’s progress has been exceptional since he moved from Stafford Rangers in 2019.

In the winter, he made a big impact on the loan at Chester in the Northern National League, and then, when the out-of-league program was destroyed, he returned to attract the attention of players under 23 Kevin Russell. In February, he was rewarded with a new contract.

The injury crisis gave him the chance to make his debut against Coventry against Coventry earlier than expected in the spring, but getting the loan was seen as an important next step in his development.

Michael O’Neill said recently: “If you look at these players, you can see the rental benefits for Harry Suttar, for example, 18 months in Fleetwood; Tyrese Campbell took out a loan from Shrewsbury; Nathan (Collins) did not go through this process and was able to step forward; Joe Bursick took out a loan from Doncaster.

“I think the 23rd is not at that point at the moment, we have to put such pressure on them that they think they are the players of the first team. One or two could take this step, as Nathan did, but getting a loan can be all the more normal.

“It can be a step forward and borrowed. This first loan could, for example, be transferred to the National League or Northern League, and then transferred from there to the football league.

“They are still very young to participate in the Championship. There are not many teenagers playing in the Championship on a regular basis. ”

The Suttar’s progress while he was in Fleetwood cannot be underestimated. The man himself, who is now starring in Australia, says that Hill showed him “Things he didn’t necessarily know as a protector.”

And the hill said when Southtar returned to enter the championship without hindrance: “To be honest, it must have been the dark arts! Little pull-ups, little body checks to help you gain an advantage over your attacker.

“When we got Sutts back on the second loan, we wanted him to start using his body and his physique to dominate not only strikers, but games as well. We felt that he could do it, and we wanted his voice to sound too, which is very important.

“He just grew up in confidence. You have to truly dominate the center striker you are playing against, and he took it upon himself. I think it’s fair to say that he was one of the best defenders in the first league last season. “
