DOTTY HERMAN: Actually the best place to shop right now is not the suburbs or the Hamptons – you can get some really good deals while still in town. And the city is thriving, and Douglas Elliman is thriving, like all big firms. We’re so busy we can’t keep up with it.
The good news is that when I was a kid I used to go to The Village or Washington Square and there were little shops and little places that you will never find anywhere else. Many young people, who cannot afford the city, rent in the city. And the plethora of retail stores that can only be provided by some big, big companies, small owners and small boutiques can now start popping up …
I think this will make him a little jittery again. In a way, I think this is a kind of revival.
