New addition made ahead of Saturday’s home game.
Steve Evans entered the market to secure the signature of Dan Adshead on loan from Premier League team Norwich City.
The midfielder, who turns 20 next month, has joined the Gills immediately and is available for selection ahead of Saturday’s Sky Bet League 1 match at home in Morkham.
Dan, who went through the youth system at Rochdale, made 25 appearances for the club before signing with Norwich for an undisclosed fee in 2019. The original figure, externally reported at the time, ranged from £ 300,000 to £ 500,000.
In 2020, the youngster joined Dutch club SC Telstar, on loan for the remainder of the 2020-21 season, playing 28 league appearances before returning to Carrow Road.
He represented England at U18 and U19 levels and was named EFL League 1 Young Student of the Year in April 2019.
Earlier this month, he came on as a substitute against Jills in the club’s pre-season friendly in Norfolk.
Capturing his signature, the gaffer said, “Dan is a very talented guy with a lot of energy.
“He was an outstanding player in Holland and many clubs were looking for him during his time in Rochdale.
“I would like to thank Stuart Webber, my friend Daniel Farke and all the Norwich City employees for their help in closing this deal.”
The player has been assigned compound number 16 and the full interview will be available on the club’s website shortly.
