San Antonio acquires Kortne Ford on loan from Rapids

SAN ANTONIO – San Antonio FC announced Thursday that the club has acquired quarterback Courtney Ford on loan from Major League Football Colorado Rapids, pending league and federation approval. According to club policy, the terms of the loan were not disclosed.

“We are delighted to add Courtney Ford to the SAFC family and appreciate the Colorado Rapids’ help with the loan,” said SAFC head coach Alain Marcina. “Kourtne has the potential to add great value to our center-back through her athleticism, competitiveness and demonstrated resilience. As staff, we are delighted to have the opportunity to work with Kourtne and look forward to joining him with the team. ”

Ford has played 43 matches in all Rapids competitions throughout his career, including 35 in the MLS. His highest scoring season came in 2017, when he played 1,726 minutes in the regular season over 20 matches (19 starts). The 25-year-old has also competed in the Concacaf Champions League and US Open Rapids, and represented Colorado in the 2017 MLS Homegrown game.

Initially joining the Rapids Academy in 2012, Ford continued his studies at the University of Denver, where he played in 62 college games from 2014 to 2016 and made the All-Summit League First Team twice. Colorado signed Ford to a homegrown MLS player in January 2017, and later that year made his first team debut.
