I personally can’t remember when the last PGA Tour stop was weather-free. The memorial, as always, brought a respite of rain after a delay of rain and even a downpour during Patrick Cantley as well as Colleen Morikawa fought on the 71st hole. The Palmetto Championship hit with a swift storm, much to the disappointment. J. T. Poston and Caddy Aaron Flener.

Both the US Open and the Travelers have been postponed, albeit for a different reason, as fog has been the reason for the past two weeks. Sadly, the same story happened with the Rocket Mortgage Classic this week. The forecast for Detroit, due to heavy rains last week, has not changed. The rain delay was 3 hours 15 minutes when the players who converged in the morning finished their first round.

One person, or rather a recent University of Georgia graduate who took full advantage of the lenient terms, was Davis Thompson… After a vibrant amateur career that included a fair amount of buzz at the 2020 US Open at Winged Foot, Thompson has since turned pro.

On his way to breaking the Detroit golf club record, Thompson put nine birds against nine pairs. Sitting in ninth place, Thompson has a two-hit lead ahead of Friday’s game. With a recent influx of young stars over the past few years like Colleen Morikawa, Victor Hovland, as well as Matthew WolfWe may have another fearless twenty with something in our hands.

When Thompson and many others fell on Thursday, not everyone was so lucky. The most notable was Bryson DeShambeau bad game. With the news of DeShambeau and his longtime caddy Tim Tucker breaking up a few hours before the start of the game, his world must have started spinning. With a new player in the bag, the reigning champion looked a little disoriented for most of the day and was never able to continue his round.

DeChambaut, the main favorite ahead of the tournament, is head-to-head in the tournament and nine shots behind Thompson. Despite the large deficit, Bookmaker PointsBet DeChambaut is showing +3300 because tomorrow morning he will try to catch up.

2 rounds played (odds via PointsBet):

Jason Cochrac (+3300 Win):

I usually do not add the final selection until the weekend because we have failed in the past (just take a look Max Homa last week). However, at the top of the leaderboard, Niemann inflates a ton of numbers as soon as you hit 5 or less. I’ll go a little further and double up again, but this time with Kokrak.

I myself, with a pre-tournament ticket, gladly reinvest with higher odds. Currently ranked fifth in Strokes Gained: Tee-to-Green, Kokrak posted round 3-less on Thursday. Although he hits back six shots, the club was very disappointed in the first round and we hope he will recover over the next three days.

With numerous triples and short misses on the grass, Kokrak should like its 54-hole position to the finish line. He will have the opportunity to start work early Friday morning after completing the first round. The two-time PGA Tour winner will simply need to correct mistakes as he was able to land seven birds on Thursday and will continue to do so throughout the week.

Phil Mickelson (+12500 Victory):

Playing with Mickelson at the start of the tournament will either blow me in the face or make me look like a genius. With such high odds, I am ready to bet on the latter, since his game on Thursday and has been extremely encouraging lately. After being idle for most of his first round, Mickelson was delayed by the rain, realizing three in a row.

He walked off the pitch and talked to Golf Channel about what exactly should happen next, and in simple terms, he said he needed to do more shots. Despite sitting 3 or less, Mickelson lost almost two hits on the grass and did nothing beyond 10 feet.

It is noteworthy that he spoke about the importance of getting into an argument. In the year of the Ryder Cup, the Captain will be watched closely. Steve Stricker after a few months. Whether you agree or not, Mickelson is on the shortlist of potential captains and wants to do everything in his power to become more attractive.

He realizes that he needs to post more quality finishes and fight more often. I am confident that with his tee-green playing 10th in the field, Mickelson will be successful in the game over the next three days and break through the leaderboard.
