Rocket Mortgage Classic Goes To Final Weekend Next July

(WXYZ) – Rocket Mortgage Classic reschedules dates again. The tournament will take place in its fourth year at the Detroit Golf Club from July 25 to 31, 2022, as announced Tuesday as part of the PGA Tour.

This makes the tournament the penultimate one before the start of the FedEx Cup playoffs and three weeks after the Open, the final Major of the season.

For the past two years, the Rocket Mortgage Classic has been raffled around the weekend of July 4th, and in its first year, it happened in June. Tournament days will be held on July 28-31.

“We are delighted to have another amazing golf week next summer when the Rocket Mortgage Classic returns to Detroit Golf Club from July 25th to 31st, 2022. Now in its fourth year, the event has quickly become a summer tradition celebrated by many around the world. “All the best golfers are competing to support a very rewarding cause of ending the digital divide in Detroit,” tournament director Jason Langwell said in a press release.

The move comes as the PGA Tour announced a strategic alliance with the European Tour to include the Scottish Open, Barbasol Championship and Barracuda Championship in the FedExCup and Race to Dubai championships.

The fourth year is the final year in the original contract between the tournament and the PGA Tour. While there was no announcement of the expansion, Langwell told us during this year’s tournament that “the future is bright.”
