BOSTON – The Boston office of Cresa and Margulies Perruzzi congratulates Rich Bettina, Senior Leasing Director at Fresenius Medical Care North America (FMC), on the appointment of CoreNet New England as Real Estate Leader for the Americas.
The End User Leadership Award is designed to honor a North American CoreNet Global New England member who provides leadership in corporate real estate as well as in their department, team and company. Rich was nominated by Mark Margulis, FAIA, LEED AP, General and Senior Partner of Margulies Perruzzi, and Tim Mullycangas, Managing Director of Cresa.
“I’ve worked closely with Rich since he joined FMC as Director of Transaction Management – North American Lease Renewals in 2018. What he has done in such a short time is really impressive, ”Tim said. “Rich has a unique skill set that most real estate CEOs lack. In addition to the basic real estate and portfolio management strategy, he has a deep knowledge and understanding of how to successfully navigate many levels of management in a very complex and large organization. He quickly maps key stakeholders, builds relationships at key levels and comes up with a plan to improve strategy, processes and measurable results for the company. ”
Richard A. Bettina is a seasoned professional with over 30 years of director-level management experience in companies such as FMC, Dell / EMC, Teradyne and IBM in North America, Latin America and Asia Pacific. Rich has demonstrated corporate real estate expertise in all aspects of portfolio management, including site expansion and consolidation, leases, project management and premises maintenance.
“Just as the COVID-19 pandemic broke out, FMC was in the early stages of a complete transformation of its 2.6 million SF non-clinical jobs under Rich’s leadership,” said Mark. “Recognizing the tremendous opportunity offered by dozens of expired leases and underutilized US sites, Rich put together a team to research the effectiveness of consolidation that would simultaneously improve collaboration and flexibility. Rapidly deploying in response to COVID, Rich redirected his team to build management and staff consensus around a completely unassigned remote workspace, dubbed The Future of Work at FMC. “
Fresenius is the world’s largest integrated provider of products and services for people on dialysis for chronic kidney failure. Newly appointed as Senior Director of North American Leases, Rich is responsible for over 3,000 clinics and offices and negotiates 380 leases annually. He manages 20 employees who direct and manage office lease renewals, site consolidations and all aspects of disposition across North America. Rich works directly with all of the company’s executives, including eight general managers and 40 regional vice presidents with ~ 30 million SF across 3,500 offices.

Rich holds a BS from Northeastern University and an MBA in strategic business management from Pace University. An active member of CoreNet New England, Rich has served as a member of the board of directors, a member of the Real Advantage committee and a liaison to the board. Outside the office, he is active with Big Brothers Big Sisters in Central Massachusetts / MetroWest.
