Durst Organizationthe New York-based real estate empire makes vaccinations mandatory for non-union employees.

The Durst Organization is a family business with over 100 years of history. The firm develops, builds, owns and manages commercial and residential real estate covering New York, Dutchess County and Philadelphia. Their portfolio of buildings includes 114 West 47th Street, One Bryant Park and One Five One.

The firm is also known for its ties to an heir and a suspected serial killer. Robert Alan Durst… Durst, who inherited millions of real estate properties from his father, Seymour Durst, was arrested in 2015 and is suspected of killing three people.

According to the report in New york post, Durst requires its non-union employees to be vaccinated against COVID-19 by September 6.

While medical and religious conflicts will be handled on an individual basis, non-union employees who have not received the vaccine will be fired.

Union employees, numbering about 700, will not be covered by this mandate.

Union workers include building maintenance workers, cleaners, security guards, doormen and engineers who maintain mechanical systems in buildings, according to the report.

The Durst Organization is one of the many companies that have started to implement vaccine requirements for their employees.

Yesterday, Washington Post reported that Facebook, Google, Lyft and Slack require employees returning to the office to be vaccinated.

“I hope these steps give everyone more peace of mind as the offices reopen,” Google CEO Sundar Pichai said in a statement.

President Biden expected to announce Thursday that all civilian federal employees must be vaccinated or tested regularly for COVID-19. The announcement will follow similar mandates for government officials in New York and California.
