On Tuesday, a real estate developer was convicted of a corruption scandal at Dallas City Hall for bribing two former councilors.

A federal jury found Ruel Hamilton guilty on one count of conspiracy and two counts of bribery.

According to prosecutors, Hamilton laid out tens of thousands of dollars in bribes to Caroline Davis and Dwayne Caraway. In return, they helped him raise millions of dollars in city loans for his low-income housing projects.

An undercover video taken as evidence at the trial showed Hamilton at a meeting at Cumin’s office in 2018.

HAMILTON: “What can I do for you right now, today?”

CARAWAY: “You can answer the invoice I just issued for 62 years. [$6,200] Today, ”

Hamilton could face up to 25 years in federal prison. His sentence is set for November.

Caroline Davis pleaded guilty before dying in a 2019 car accident. Dwayne Caraway is serving a five-year prison sentence on a separate bribery case.
