The Ligue 1 heavyweights have closed the deal for the teenager after a great season nationally and internationally.
Paris Saint-Germain signed a lease with Sporting’s left-back Nuno Mendes, while PSG midfielder Pablo Sarabia took a different route and went on loan to Sporting.
The top left-back traded Portugal for France on the last day of the summer transfer window, moving to Parc des Princes from José Alvalade Stadium.
The 19-year-old has received a loan for the season, which will include the option to buy the Ligue 1 giants.
Sarabia joins Sporting
After confirming Mendes’ arrival, PSG announced that the Spanish midfielder Sarabia had been transferred to Sporting on loan for the entire season.
The 29-year-old moved to PSG from Seville in 2019 and made 79 appearances for the Ligue 1 team, scoring 22 goals and assisting 12 assists.
Mendes’ career so far
The capture of Mendes, a graduate of Sporting’s impressive youth system, is another signal of intent for PSG, who have enjoyed a busy period heralded by the arrival of Lionel Messi.
Breaking into the first team in 2020, he entered the twice-winning campaign last season with both league and cup fame and began his final victory in the Taca de Liga.
He has already won a silver medal this season, helped them play Supertaca Candido de Oliveira against Braga in July, and this year he won five matches internationally as Portugal failed to defend their European Championship crown.
