Facebook Inc (FB.O) opens up ways for businesses to interact with customers on Instagram and WhatsApp, they said Wednesday at the virtual developers’ F8 Refresh conference.

The world’s largest social network said it is rolling out tools to allow developers to create ways for businesses to communicate to customers on Facebook’s Instagram. Facebook reported that 90% of Instagram users follow at least one business.

Facebook said its messaging app WhatsApp will support more types of messages, for example, allowing businesses to send alerts when an item is back in stock. It is also testing a separate way for people to choose messaging with businesses using Login Connect.
