Oakland County Rent, Mortgage and Utilities Continuation Program – Daily Tribune



Auckland Auckland continues a program that will provide $ 3.9 million in rent, mortgages and social assistance to low-income residents who continue to struggle during the COVID-19 pandemic.

This will be the third round of disbursement of grants from Auckland Auckland and Housing Program, Rentals, Mortgages and Utility Assistance… The program was first implemented in Spring 2020 using Federal Community Development Block (CDBG) dollars from the US Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD).

“As we emerge from the dire health effects of the COVID-19 pandemic, we know the economic recovery is just beginning for many of our neighbors,” said County Executive Dave Coulter. “This program is designed to help meet the basic housing needs that our residents need to get back on their feet and feel safe moving forward.”

To get help, you must:

  • Be a resident of Oakland County
  • Have a family income of less than 80% of the regional median income; as defined by HUD
  • Experienced hardships associated with COVID-19 on or after March 10, 2020, such as being unable to pay due to temporary job loss, reduced working hours, or other income difficulties.
  • The household did not receive assistance from any other source in the same activity and time period as requested under this program.
  • Your landlord, property manager, or mortgage company must agree to participate in the program. (Payments will not be made directly to the applicant.)
  • This program provides a one-time grant for eligible households and covers the following areas:
    • Rent (includes payments under the land contract, lease of a plot for a mobile home, penalties for late payment, legal costs).
    • Mortgage payments and / or association fees
    • Utility bills (gas, electricity, water and sewerage).
  • Household liquid assets (eg savings, checks, cash) are limited to USD 15,000.

After the application is completed, it can be sent by mail or left at any of the above places. There is no maximum benefit, but applications will be reviewed on a first come, first served basis.
