The Ministry of Economy of Ukraine signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the US Export-Import Bank aimed at strengthening economic cooperation between the two countries in trade in goods and services.

“During the visit of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy to the United States, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed between the Ministry of Economy of Ukraine and the Export-Import Bank of the United States of America. On behalf of Ukraine, the document was signed by the First Vice Prime Minister. , Economy Minister Alexei Lyubchenko, and from the bank – acting president James Burroughs, “- said in a statement.
The main purpose of the memorandum is to strengthen economic cooperation between Ukraine and the United States in the field of trade in goods and services. In particular, the Ministry of Economy and Eximbank will work out options for using medium and long-term guarantees, as well as direct loans from Eximbank to finance US exports to Ukraine for a total of $ 3 billion.
At the same time, the bank has no restrictions on the conclusion of financing agreements, which allows in the future to consider financing over $ 3 billion.
“We hope that we will be able to implement projects for a total amount that will be much more than the indicated $ 3 billion. It is important for us to strategically develop cooperation with the US Eximbank, to turn it into one of the pillars of the Ukrainian one.” We hope that the US partners will provide reliable financial support such cooperation “, – said Lyubchenko.
According to the Deputy Prime Minister, in preparation for signing, a number of joint consultations were held, at which a set of projects on security and economic transformation of Ukraine, as well as decarbonization and implementation of infrastructure projects were considered.
“We are convinced that the US authorities fully support this scenario of Ukraine’s development and are interested in developing ambitious projects with the participation of American companies in Ukraine,” the senior official said.
American bankers confirmed their readiness to continue active cooperation and expressed confidence that the signing of the memorandum will become the basis for the implementation of ambitious projects and will contribute to strengthening economic ties between the two countries.
