Norwich is nearing a deal to sign Billy Gilmour for a seasonal loan from Chelsea… The Scotland midfielder has been targeted by several Premier League clubs and Norwich is becoming his most likely destination.

Chelsea have a lot of competition for their midfield spots, and last season Gilmore fell below N’Golo Kante, Mateo Kovacic and Jorginho. 20 year old who isolation after a positive test result for Covid-19, following Thomas Tuchel’s arrival at Stamford Bridge last January, has been limited to five appearances in all competitions and is keen to continue his development on loan.

Gilmore missing when Scotland departed from Euro 2020 after lose last Croatia group match on Tuesday – one of Chelsea’s most talented footballers. He impressed after his sideways break under Frank Lampard in the 2019-2020 season and offered some promising shots under Tuchel.

However, Gilmore wants to play regularly and Chelsea are willing to let him join Norwich, who won the championship last season. Tuchel was managing Borussia Dortmund while Norwich manager Daniel Farke was in charge of the German side’s second team. The couple have a good relationship and Chelsea believe that Farke’s football brand will suit Gilmore’s game. On Wednesday, Norwich brought goalkeeper Angus Gunn to the club from Southampton on a four-year contract.

Gilmore, who will be able to receive treatment after his quarantine ends next Wednesday, was best man of the match when Scotland drew England last Friday. Its quality is undeniable and Norwich will have to fend off rival clubs’ attempts to break the deal.

Gilmore’s departure will give Chelsea the opportunity to cover the midfield. First, however, Tuchel wants to seize the opportunity to evaluate Ruben Loftus-Chick in the preseason. Loftus-Cheek spent last season on loan at Fulham and the midfielder, whose development was halted by a severe Achilles injury two years ago, is determined to prove himself at Chelsea.

Tuchel will also take a look at Chiemue Bakayoko, who has been struggling since joining Chelsea in 2017. The former AS Monaco midfielder has been on loan in each of the past three seasons and Chelsea are trying to find a buyer.
