Matty Longstaff made his Aberdeen debut on Sunday when the Dons tied 1-1 at home with Ross County.

The 21-year-old, who was on loan for the remainder of the season last week for the Scotland side, got a start at Pittodry from his manager, former Newcastle midfielder Stephen Glass.

Longstaff lined up next to Scott Brown in the Don’s engine room, but was replaced in the 64th minute by Jay Emmanuel-Thomas and the hosts tried to level the score after Regan Charles-Cook opened the game.

The late equalizer Christian Ramirez eventually earned Glass one point, and Longstaff now hopes to keep his spot when his team travels to Motherwell on Saturday 11.th September.

Meanwhile, it was a good weekend for Kell Watts as he had 90 minutes left for Wigan Athletic in their 1-0 victory over Portsmouth in the first league.

Second-half winner Callum Lang scored points for the Latix, while Watts helped his team clear the net at DW Stadium.

But in the second league, another pair of United tenants remained on the bench: goalkeeper Jake Turner came on as a substitute in a 1-1 draw at Rochdale on Friday, while Lewis Cass stayed on the sidelines for the game against Port Vale. A 2-0 win at Forest Green on Saturday.
