Italian club Napoli are reportedly willing to lease Emerson Palmieri next season and are willing to accept a binding purchase clause if Chelsea agree to lease a wingback.
Previous reports have linked the Italian to a return to Serie A, but the move will only be made after Euro 2020.
According to Inside FootballNapoli is poised to include a commitment to buy Emerson in any potential lending move for the left-back this summer.
This could suit Chelsea, who would like to receive the player’s royalties as they only have 12 months left on their contract.
This would mean that the Blues would have to renew Emerson’s contract with Chelsea for a year to secure the player’s royalties.
The current Napoli manager previously hinted at a deal for Emerson…
Spalletti coached Emerson for a short period at Roma and could be reunited with the defender if an agreement is reached.
The Argentine manager said: “I can’t tell if I called Emerson to join Napoli or not … maybe, yes, maybe it happened.”
Inter are believed to have a key advantage over Napoli for Emerson’s signature, as Nerazzurri can pay the € 3.5 million salary that the player is currently receiving at Chelsea.
Chelsea was associated with Roma and Italy star Leonardo Spinazzola as a possible replacement for Emerson, who could return to his old club. However, an injury to Spinazzola raised doubts about his move to Chelsea, putting Napoli in the lead in favor of the Chelsea player.
Emerson hasn’t been able to establish himself as the club’s main left-back since joining Chelsea in January 2018, so a move to longer playing time could be in progress.
