Starting Monday, new relief for homeowners in McAllen looking for help paying off their mortgage.
McAllen offers one-time mortgage assistance for up to six months. $ 350,000 is made available through a grant from the Texas Department of Housing and Public Affairs.
Residents must meet these requirements:
- Average income falls below 80% (for a family of four, this means you should be earning less than $ 48,000.
- Financially affected by COVID-19
- Currently not receiving other assistance
“It will definitely help homeowners who are struggling to make ends meet,” said McAllen Program Coordinator Natalie Manzanares.
Money will be available on a first come, first served basis until spent. Therefore, if you are late with your mortgage payment, do not hesitate to ask for help.
