Law360 (Sep 3, 2021 at 3:09 PM ET) – Freedom Mortgage Corp. reached a proposed $ 2.7 million class action settlement in charges for allegedly unnecessary checks, as per a request for prior approval from a Pennsylvania federal court.
After a lawsuit argued that the company was required to send inspectors past the property to make sure they weren’t abandoned – even as the owners were working on repayment plans and intended to keep their homes – the company signed a settlement agreement stating that it will refund part of the fees for tens of thousands of homeowners.
