I lived in Nevada and Florida before returning to Michigan and my car insurance was pretty reasonable. When I returned to Michigan, my rate more than doubled. I had a good driving experience, no tickets, no accidents. I told my agent that this is crazy and he said Michigan is the most expensive state in the country for auto insurance. Why? because if you were ever injured in an accident, you would be taken care of for life.
Some Michigans are worried
What is happening now is that many, many people in Michigan who have been seriously injured in car accidents and who depend on caring for state guilt-free car laws are afraid they will soon lose access to medical care when they will be subject to the law. The law comes into force in July.
So. Here’s a sensation: In July 2020, the first phase of reform began, people with driver’s licenses in Michigan were required to have Unlimited Personal Injury Protection (PIP). The intention was good
If you remember, Governor Gretchen Whitmer signed into law the perfect automobile reform law back in January 2019. She tried to help by helping Michigan residents get lower insurance rates in the state.
