A Detroit real estate manager was killed in Miami Beach over the weekend.

Kevin Baker, 38, has died from injuries sustained in an alleged assault from the scene, according to a post on his Instagram account signed by his wife. According to Crain’s, he was the CEO of Landmark Commercial Real Estate Services LLC.

A Florida Highway Patrol lieutenant said the incident happened around 2:45 a.m. Saturday. The driver of the Yamasaki “scooter”, who was not identified by the police, was hit by a white Honda sedan on Julia Tuttle-Causeway I-195 near Alton Road.

Police say the sedan driver fled on foot after the incident. Meanwhile, the driver of Yamasaki’s car was ejected and taken to the Ryder Trauma Center, where he later died of his injuries. A criminal investigation is underway.

A bio on the Landmark website says Baker has sold over $ 750 million in shopping malls and investment properties. He previously worked in tenant representation and later co-founded the Landmark Investment sales group. He attended both the University of Michigan and the University of Michigan-Dearborn.

“We already miss him and we know that many people are deeply concerned about this loss,” Haira Baker wrote on her husband’s Instagram.
