MBA Announces Support for Plan to Bridging the Gap Between Racial Home Ownership

The Mortgage Bankers’ Association announced its support for the Black Homeownership Collaborative (BHC) plan to increase Black home ownership by three million new households by 2030.

Through its solution-based plan, BHC is committed to helping black communities overcome the difficulties they face with affordable housing. The BHC’s seven-point plan includes home ownership counseling, down payment assistance, home construction, lending and lending, civil and consumer rights, home ownership sustainability, and marketing and advocacy.

“Promoting safe and sustainable home ownership and bridging the home ownership gap that exists in minority communities is my top priority as MBA Chair in 2021,” said Susan Stewart, Chair of the 2021 MBA and CEO of SWBC Mortgage Corporation. “The mortgage industry has the opportunity and responsibility to open doors to those who are willing and able to buy a home.”
