Mary J. Rossi, Real Estate Broker



Mary J. Rossi, 83, of Bethany Beach, formerly known as Ridgefield, New Jersey, passed away on Wednesday, August 11, 2021, at her home.

She was born in Brooklyn, New York on September 13, 1937, the daughter of the late Martin Higgins and Mary (Killian) Higgins. Mary and her husband Philip owned American Way Realty in Ridgefield, where she worked as a broker.

After retiring in Bethany Beach, she became very interested in her husband in the town of Bethany Beach. She was instrumental in planning the 4th July parade for 10 years, created a scrapbook for the parade, and provided lavish Italian lunches for employees of the city of Bethany as well as the Department of Public Works in Bethany. She was an avid bridge player, belonged to several clubs, and also loved to play golf.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded by the death of her son Edward William Rossi, who passed away on 23 July 2017. She was survived by her 60-year-old loving husband Philip Rossi; two children, Philip G. Rossi of Palisades Park, NJ, and Roseanne Yanke and her husband Richard of Ramsey, NJ; four grandchildren, Brendan and Brian Jahnke, Enrico and Edward Rossi; and three brothers: Tom Higgins from Fort Lee, New Jersey, Bill Higgins from New York, New York, and John Higgins and his wife Janet from Sarasota, Florida.

The visit will take place from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Wednesday, August 18, at St Anne’s Catholic Church, 691 Garfield Parkway, Bethany Beach, where a Christian funeral mass will be held at 11 a.m. The burial will be private.
