Aston Villa has confirmed a lease with Axel Tuanzebe for the season.
The Manchester United defender has been looking for a new club following the upcoming arrival of Rafael Varane and is now back at Villa where he spent two impressive loan periods between 2018 and 2019.
Dean Smith, Tuanzebe’s manager at the time, was keen to bring him back to provide cover for the center and right-backs. The 23-year-old was handed over by United due to an oversupply of defenders, and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer believed Tuanzebe would benefit from regular football.
Tuanzebe made his United debut in January 2017 and made his Premier League debut in May of that year. Since then, he has played 19 matches for them.
Perhaps the most impressive part of his senior team career has been with Willa. In his second loan in 2018/19, he played 25 league games, with Villa winning a promotion to the Premier League. He played the full 90 minutes of their win over Derby County in the playoff final.
