Defender Manchester United Brandon Williams is on the verge of joining Norwich City on a season loan.

Sources say the deal is “almost complete” and Williams will become Norwich’s second approved creditor after Chelsea’s Billy Gilmour.

Nottingham Forest Still Interested in Re-signing James Garner loaned after a successful four-month stay at the Championship Club earlier this year.

Garner and Williams, both 20, played in United’s closed friendly win over Burnley at Old Trafford Tuesday afternoon. Garner entered the final year of his contract, but United have an extra year to choose from.

Combined have already loaned Axel Tuanzebe to Aston Villa, Facundo Pellistri Alaves and Tahit Chong Birmingham. Under 23 players Ethan Laird, Ethan Galbraith, Dishon Bernard, Will Fish, Rhys Devine and Nathan Bishop have also been loaned to the Football League and the National League.

United ready for let Amad go for rent and central midfielder Teden Mengi may also be on loan again after a good run at Derby in the second half of the previous term.

United have yet to sell a senior player and have a 33-man team amid Flamengo’s interest in Andreas Pereira and West Ham United in Jesse Lingard.

Lingard, 28, scored nine goals in 16 games on loan to West Ham earlier this year and is unlikely to play regularly at United as his contract expires next summer.

Phil Jones has a surplus at United but, like last year, is almost impossible to sell as he just returned from another long injury. Jones, who also played in the friendly against Burnley, has not played in competitive matches since January 24, 2020 and is only the fifth center-back since Tuanzebe is on loan.
