Both clubs are “very optimistic” about the negotiations, but all that remains to be discussed is the wage split and the price of the option to buy at the end of the season.

The 25-year-old currently earns £ 30,000 a week and the Flamengo wage split will ease the financial pressure on United to have players leave to reduce their net costs.

Pereira spent last season on loan at Lazio, playing 33 matches in all competitions, but only five retired.

This will be Pereira’s fourth time away from Manchester in five years. He also completed loans in Granada and Valencia as the Brazilian struggles to establish himself as a regular in his parent club’s starting lineup.
