Officials said Monday morning that LSU will forgive more than $ 7 million in student loan arrears that have affected about 4,000 students.
“In an effort to continue to provide access to study at LSU, we have made the decision to clear all unpaid prior tuition and leftover fees for LSU students who have enrolled at any time during the COVID-19 pandemic,” said LSU’s vice president of admissions. Management Jose Aviles.
“We strive to ensure that students have every opportunity to continue their studies. Their dream is to walk across the stage and receive an LSU diploma, and our job is to do our best to make that happen. “
The school, like others, will use some of its federal coronavirus aid to fund loan forgiveness.
Grambling State University is forgiving about $ 1.5 million in student debt, using some of its federal aid to fight the coronavirus.
