InSite Real Estate Group, Delano’s longtime tenant, is expanding to take over the entire building in the northwest corner of Douglas and Sycamore.
InSite moved to 608 W. Douglas in 2010 but has so far only occupied about a third of the building. While many companies operated from home last year, InSite partner Dan Unruh was making plans to expand its area to 6,250 square feet.
“Last year we decided to start expanding to take over the entire building because we were just standing on top of each other,” Unruh said. “Our company has grown a little.”
Unruh co-founded with Kurt Robertson 22 years ago a brokerage, development, consulting and management firm in commercial real estate. Since then, InSite has 14 employees.
“The expansion of our office space creates an enabling environment for our employees to be the best at what we do,” Unruh said. “The extra space should provide us with the operating leverage we need to grow our business in the markets we serve.”
He said that when his firm moved to Delano, it was not a prosperous area at all.
“In Delano, you could shoot a cannon and not hit anyone,” Unruh recalled. “We’ve just witnessed tremendous growth around us over the years.”
He said that more and more companies are recognizing Delano’s appeal.
“It’s a strategic location close to the city center, easy access to Kellogg, easy access to downtown amenities, and now it’s becoming a pleasant central place where people can live, work and play – especially with the addition of a baseball stadium,” Unruh said.
“We are really proud to have recognized this opportunity a long time ago.”
