Laguna Beach City Council is in the process of purchasing the property of Ti Amo Restaurant in South Laguna Beach at: 31727 S. Coast Hwy.
He is supported by Mayor Bob Whalen, Peter Blake and Sue Kempf.
This is an expensive oceanfront property on the coastal highway. Surprisingly, the city council is not obliged to conduct an assessment and is not going to carry out one.
It is planned to demolish the existing building and build a fire station with underground parking. There are also plans to remove or redo the coastal highway median strip off the property.
South Laguna Beach needs a new fire station. However, buying an expensive property on the seashore and demolishing an existing building is not only an environmental hazard, but also a waste of taxpayer money.
