Why did he leave Leeds?
As for Casilla, it seems like this has been going on for a long time. He served an eight-game suspension last year after being convicted of racism by the FA and subsequently relegated to Leeds Melier.
Melier is now well established as a first choice, leaving little chance of respite for Casilla, so you had the former Real Madrid goalkeeper – in his 30s – stuck on the bench. It makes sense for Casilla to leave after a difficult period in England.
Does this mean that his career at Elland Road is over?
In fact, yes. His contract expires until 2023, but his time at Marcelo Bielsa’s team has clearly expired.
Bielsa, despite Casilla’s harsh criticism, has supported him since his ban on racism, but he will understand Casilla’s desire to move elsewhere.
As a result, Leeds is looking for a second in the transfer market.
How did he perform in Leeds?
The problem for Casilla was that, in addition to publicizing his charge in England, he was prone to serious mistakes.
The criticism of his performances was probably excessive – which was not helped by his suspension, the reasons for it and the damage done to his reputation – but, in fact, he rarely looked like the former goalkeeper of Real Madrid, even in the championship. However, in Leeds they say that he helped Melee develop well.
