Inter’s Valentino Lazaro will join Benfica on a two-year € 8.5m repurchase loan, Portuguese media reported

Inter striker Valentino Lazaro intends to move to Benfica under a two-year loan with an obligation to repurchase in the amount of 8.5 million euros.

It is reported in today’s print edition of the Lisbon-based newspaper Record, which reports that the Portuguese giants are close to completing a deal with the 25-year-old after negotiations have advanced significantly since yesterday.

Lazaro has fallen out of favor at Inter as he has not been able to gain a foothold in the team since he came from Hertha in Berlin in the summer of 2019 and was expected to leave in the summer as a number of clubs showed interest in him.

However, it was Benfica who pursued him most closely and it looks like the Lisbon club has finally struck a deal to sign him, and their qualification for the Champions League group stage is the deciding factor.

The clubs have practically agreed on the terms of the deal, which will consist of a two-year loan, after which Benfica will be obliged to buy out the Austrian on a permanent basis.
