Inter Miami sends Matias Pellegrini on loan to Estudiantes

Inter Miami lent the striker Matthias Pellegrini at Club Estudiantes de la Plata until June 2022, the club announced on Monday. Pellegrini was purchased from Estudiantes two years ago.

Pellegrini, 21, made 19 appearances for Miami in 2020, adding a goal and four assists.

He was not an active member of the list in 2021 as he suffered from the cap. Club acquisition investigation Blaise Matuidi ruled that the Frenchman was to be the designated player, leaving Miami with four players for three slots. Pellegrini’s contract stripped him of the right to be added to the list as a subscriber to the U-22 Initiative, while Mautidi, Gonzalo Higuain and Rodolfo Pizarro were beyond the threshold that could be redeemed from their DP classification.

“Mathias has shown a world-class professionalism and attitude by continuing to train with the first team over the past months despite challenging circumstances and we are delighted to have found a great opportunity for him,” said sporting director Chris Henderson at the club. “The club wishes him all the best as he returns home on a loan from Estudiantes de la Plata.”

Since mid-April, Pellegrini has technically been on loan from Fort Lauderdale, the USL League One Miami branch, although he has not made an appearance with the squad.

Pellegrini made his way to Estudiantes and was at the forefront of Argentina’s youth team before being acquired by Miami as one of the club’s first two players. It was reportedly purchased for a transfer of approximately $ 9 million.

Estudiantes finished second in the first leg of the Argentine League calendar. During his work at the club before leaving for Miami, Pellegrini scored four goals and scored an assist in 21 matches (11 starts).
