If you have private student loans, you can contact your lender for the most accurate contact information for your student loan. Since March 2020, federal student loan payments have been temporarily suspended under the Cares Act, a $ 2.2 trillion stimulus package passed by Congress. In the absence of an extension, the student loan cancellation period will expire on September 30, 2021. Before resuming student loan payments, the US Department of Education will send you written correspondence warning you that student loan payments will be due. However, if you have not made your student loan payment, you can contact your student loan officer to update your contact information, check your student loan balance, or inquire about your monthly student loan payments.

Perkins Loans: Student Loan Service Contact Information

If you have Perkins loans that are not owned by the Department of Education, you should contact your college or university where you received your Perkins loan. Perhaps your college or university is serving your student loan, or they can put you in touch with your student loan support service.

What to do if your student loan is assigned to a new student loan officer serving you

Don’t panic if your student loan is transferred to new service staff. This is a common occurrence and can happen several times during the life of your student loan. You will receive written correspondence from your new student loan officer and contact information. If you service a student loan, the student loan balance, interest rate, and student loan terms will remain the same. Be sure to update your billing information, including information on any automatic payments, to ensure that student loan payments are sent to your new student loan service staff.
