Fannie Mae mortgage company sublet surplus office space in Plano

Mortgage giant Fannie Mae is subleasing some of the surplus office space in its high-rise building at Plano to a technology firm in Addison.

Financial software company Trintech leases two floors and over 38,000 square feet in Fannie Mae’s multi-story building in Granite Park in Plano.

In 2017, Fannie Mae moved nearly 1,000 workers to a 330,000-square-foot, 10-story building built by developer Granite Properties on Highway 121, east of the Dallas North Toll Road.

Trintech now hopes to sublet the building in November, according to planning documents filed with the state.

Architect Gensler is designing a new Trintech office, which will begin construction this month.

Trintech is an international software development company for the financial sector with over 3,500 clients.

The company is currently based at Dallas Parkway in Addison.

About 9 million square feet of surplus office space has been subleased in North Texas. The volume of subleased office space has increased since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Net office rents in the area have fallen sharply over the past year, as most companies leave their office workers at home.
