Dozens of insurers blame Los Angeles real estate company on Forum Shopping for business loss suit due to COVID-19

JRK Property Holdings, a Los Angeles-based real estate holding company, sued dozens of insurance companies on Tuesday in California’s Central District Court. The claim, which seeks declarative damages due to the fact that insurers are not required to provide coverage for business losses associated with COVID-19, is supported by law firms, including Phelps Dunbar; Dentons; Dickinson Wright; Fagr the Drunkard Biddle and Rith; and Robins Kaplan. The lawsuit also accused the defendant of shopping on the forum after filing an initial complaint with Virginia federal court. The defendant’s lawyer has not yet appeared. Case 2: 21-cv-05287, General Star Indemnity Company et al. against JRK Property Holdings, Inc.
