Douglas Martinez on loan at Real Salt Lake for San Diego Loyal

“This is a great opportunity for Douglas and we look forward to following his progress in San Diego until the end of the season,” said Real Salt Lake CTO Curt Schmid in a post on Monday.

Martinez first joined Real Salt Lake in 2019, playing 25 appearances for his USL affiliate Real Monarchs. He scored 17 goals and provided seven assists to help the team win the USL title. He used this in his contract with Real Madrid and played 18 games in the MLS last season, scoring two goals in 837 minutes. This season, the 24-year-old has played just six matches, playing 50 minutes.

Martinez competed in seven USL matches for Real Monarchs in 2021, scoring two more goals before the loan was announced on Monday.
