Douglas Elliman Real Estate relocates its Greenwich office to a historic building


GREENWICH – A historic building in downtown Greenwich gets a new tenant.

John Lockhart’s home at 75 Arch St. will be the new home of Douglas Elliman, a leading real estate firm that is relocating to a historic site from a nearby office. The office is Douglas Elliman’s main office in Connecticut.

Built around 1867 in the second Empire style, the building is notable for its mansard roof. It functioned as an office building for several years, serving as the office of David Ogilvy, a longtime Greenwich real estate broker who died in 2020. It was honored by the Greenwich Historical Society in 2013. Ogilvy oversaw the renovation of the building. when he moved his business there in 1987.

Douglas Elliman has nowhere to go as his current office is nearby.

“While we enjoyed our time at 88 Field Point Road in Greenwich, it’s time to move to a larger space to improve the performance of our successful agents and their clients,” said Scott Durkin, President and CEO of Douglas Elliman. “We are incredibly proud to call the John Lockhart home our home and look forward to delivering best-in-class real estate services in our new territory.”

The new location will house 70 agents and what the company calls a growing real estate business. The four-story building includes 6,000 square feet of floor space. Douglas Elliman said the proximity to the nearest Metro-North train station was a plus. Company CEO Michael Fitzgibbon said the office staff would be “active, committed members of the surrounding community.”

The real estate firm has reported significant sales this year. The Greenwich office closed record real estate sales of $ 281,958,000 in 2020, up 34 percent from 2019. In January of this year, a company agent brought a buyer to Tommy Hilfiger’s estate at 30 John St. for $ 45 million. highest sale in Greenwich this year.
