After the first event was announced as the Basketball Championship at the Big West conference on March 8-12, work on the Henderson Dollar Loan Center continues.
The stadium’s exterior takes on a rounded shape, with side panels installed across much of the 6,000-seat arena at a cost of $ 84 million, showing snippets of what the finished product will look like.
Inside the arena, seating areas in stadiums have already been poured, awaiting seating, and the ground level has not yet been concreted.
The arena will be home to the Silver Knights, a subsidiary of the American Hockey League Golden Knights and the as-yet-to-be-named Indoor Football League franchise.
Scheduled for completion in February, the tight deadline provides a small cushion in case of minor cost overruns ahead of the March basketball tournament.
Golden Knights President Kerry Bubolz is looking forward to the variety of events taking place at the arena.
“It all started with the Silver Knights, we opened an indoor soccer (league) and discussed with the Big West Conference basketball group about moving their championship to Henderson,” Bubolz said last month. “We are very proud to have opened on March 8th.”
