Dicke, 21, has played 26 games in all competitions for the championship club after being loaned in January, scoring 11 goals as Barnsley missed the Premier League’s second-tier playoffs.
“The experience was insane,” Dyke told ESPN. “I mean from a young age you always watch English football and you always hear about the atmosphere, the fans, the competitive play and everything else.
“So I have the opportunity to play all year and then get into the playoffs and finally be able to play in front of the fans at Barnsley and then Swansea and see the level of competition and gear and the fans and the atmosphere. I love it, I think it’s great.
“For me, this experience has shaped me as I am today. [both] mentally and physically, the way I play both on and off the pitch. It was a great experience for me, it was really important. “
Dyke returned to Orlando after a loan and is now on duty for the US team at the Gold Cup. He has proven himself so far in the tournament, scoring twice in a single game. 6: 1 win Martinique on Thursday and being part of an action that forced an own goal for another Americans account.
The Gold Cup squad is mostly made up of Major League Soccer players and does not include some of America’s top stars such as Christian Pulisic, Weston McKenny as well as Giovanni Reinabut Dicke said that the competition between the team was excellent and that he hopes to be able to become the starting player for Gregg Berhalter’s team in the future.
“I think obviously I had aspirations and I always say I want to be the best, but I also recognize the quality of the guys here,” said Dike. “You see the attackers who are here, and you know those who are not here, how Jordan [Morris], Josh [Sargent], around tons and tons. Everyone brings something to the table, but of course I want to play, of course I want to start.
“I go to every workout, I work hard, and every game shows what I’m capable of. When the decision comes [who is playing] in the game, I know I put myself in a better position. It doesn’t matter where you play, there are always good players, whether it’s the national team or elsewhere. “
Next up for the US in the Gold Cup will be a Group B playoff against Canada, which the Americans need to win to place first in the quarterfinals.
