Miguel Aziz is the 12th Arsenal player to go on loan this summer after agreeing to a seasonal deal with Portsmouth.
The midfielder is heading to Fratton Park to gain experience with the first team, having played with the Gunners at the U-23 level.
Aziz made his Arsenal first-team debut as a substitute in the Europa League, defeating Dundalk and was part of the team that traveled to Scotland for the preseason.
By helping to develop Emil Smith Rowe during his time as Huddersfield coach, there are high hopes that Pompeii boss Danny Cowley will be able to develop Aziz’s talent in the harsh conditions of the First League.
Speaking of the deal, he said“This is a deal we have been working on for most of the summer, and therefore we are very pleased.
“Arsenal was really good and we have to thank them for entrusting us with another young player.
“We’ve worked with Emile Smith Rowe before and credit manager Ben Knapper singled out Miguel when we first arrived in Pompeii, saying he was the next person we had to look after.
“So we’ve seen him develop since then and fall in love with him – as you do when you see a boy who is as talented as he is.
“You can see hunger and humility to learn and improve, which we really enjoy. He is really diligent and wants to find ways to improve his results.
“We think the fans will love Miguel and he is very good at dribbling and can also pose a real threat to us.”
Good luck to him in Pompeii!
