Each year, Midwest Real Estate News introduces a new class into its Commercial Real Estate Hall of Fame. Last year, despite its difficulties, was no exception. Here’s a look at one of our 2020 Hall of Fame class members, Ryan Engle, Senior Managing Director of Investment at Oakbrook Terrace, Illinois, office Marcus and Millicap

Ryan Engle joined Marcus & Millichap in 2003 as part of a Sales Internship Program. Through his diligence and perseverance, he quickly climbed the corporate ladder and is now the Senior Managing Director of Investment.

“The steps I’ve taken to be successful in commercial real estate are to stay true,” Angle said, “and continually learn, improve, and evolve as the marketplace changes.”

In 2007, Engle, in partnership with Andrean Angelov, founded the Engle & Angelov group at Marcus & Millichap. He currently works at Chicago Oak Brook, where he implements both multi-family and industrial developments in the Midwest.

During his career, he has sold over 550 properties and sold over $ 1 billion. Engle is consistently ranked as the best agent in the Midwest and has received multiple sales and achievement awards from Marcus & Millichap.

During the highly challenging COVID-19 pandemic, Angle was able to lead his team to a record 2020 with sales exceeding $ 200 million and over 50 transactions. The biggest challenge he faced actually arose 12 years ago, although this also led to constructive results.

“On the positive side of the Great Recession, it was a catalyst for me to improve all aspects of my brokerage business,” Angle said. “In a good market, you can make some mistakes and still close transactions, but in a difficult market, any mistakes can lead to the termination of the transaction.”

Loved and respected by his employees, colleagues and clients, Angle has developed strong relationships with those with whom he works. Together with Angelov, he manages and mentors a successful team of five promising agents in the Midwest. He and his team are renowned as the market leaders in the Midwest and continue to grow strategically and organically.

Engle spent his childhood in southern California, and his youth – in the northwestern part of Iowa. Prior to joining Marcus & Millichap, he graduated from the University of Iowa with a degree in finance and management.

When he’s not in the office, Angle enjoys spending time with his wife and five sons. He also enjoys golfing and traveling.
