Colorado Rapids signs Lucas Estevez on loan from Palmeiras

IN Colorado Rapids acquired left-back Lucas Estevez on loan from Brazilian team Palmeiras until June 2022 with club purchase option pending his ITC and P-1 visa, the club announced on Friday.

The acquisition came after news that Colorado completed translation what sends left back Sam Vines to Royal Antwerp in Belgium. Essentially, Estevez’s arrival represents a replacement for the outgoing 22-year-old United States national team player.

“Lucas is an athletic and technically gifted left back with extensive experience in South America,” said Padraig Smith, executive vice president and general manager of Colorado. “We’re thrilled to add a player of this level to our group and look forward to welcoming him to Colorado.”

The 21-year-old Estevez has played 27 appearances and scored once for Palmeiras since his first team debut in 2019. He has played in the club’s youth system since 2014.

Earlier this summer, Estevez was invited to train with the Brazilian national team during their Copa America campaign.
