FC Cincinnati has canceled the lease of striker Franco Kovachevic (pronounced kokh-VAH-chukh-vich). The club will not exercise the right to sign a contract with him and he will return to TSG Hoffenheim.
“We thank Franco for his contribution to the development of Cincinnati FC,” said Cincinnati FC General Manager Gerard Nykamp. “He has a new opportunity with better playing time odds that we cannot guarantee for him here. We wish him all the best for his future endeavors in the game. “
Kovacevic has appeared on the bench three times this season for a total of 38 minutes, including his most recent last 17 minutes against the Columbus Crew on July 9. He made his 2021 debut on June 19 against Colorado and was included in the active squad ahead of that match. after being on the list of injuries (hamstring).
He made one career start for the Orange and Blues last season in the season finale at Inter Miami.
Cincinnati FC will return to play this weekend at TQL Stadium to face DC United.
