Chelsea are reportedly willing to allow young Henry Lawrence to go on loan to Wigan Athletic.
The 19-year-old is set to follow in the footsteps of Rhys James, who impressed the 2018/19 Wigan loan.
According to SunSportLawrence will be allowed to leave Chelsea while on loan at Wigan.
James has been named by Wigan fans and the best player of the season during his season with the Latix, and the Blues hope Lawrence will follow a similar path.
Chelsea have a strong relationship with the League One club, with first-team coach Anthony Barry joining the club from Wigan last season.
The Blues have several players ahead of Lawrence in the first squad, and his time will be limited.
The right-back did not train with Thomas Tuchel and the main team in the preseason, as Duyon Sterling and David Zappacosta are being used as right-handed players before the first teams return to training from Euro 2020.
Chelsea were looking for a right-hand player with strong ties to Achraf Hakimi before the Moroccan moved to Paris Saint-Germain.
Adama Traore was also associated with the club, which means that Lawrence will be even lower in the hierarchy.
Chelsea are hoping the 19-year-old will be able to go on loan and gain valuable experience in the first league before returning to the club and redefining his position in the squad next season.
