Chelsea Transfer News: Emerson Moves To Lyon On Full Season Loan | Football news

Chelsea defender Emerson Palmieri is on loan for the remainder of the season.

Lyon will pay a loan commission of up to £ 1 million to the 27-year-old Italy player who can play in left-back or full-back.

Emerson stepped off the bench in last Saturday’s Premier League match against Crystal Palace, which was his 71st game against Chelsea.

He joined the Blues from Roma in January 2018 for an initial £ 17.6m, winning the Champions League, Europa League, European Super Cup and FA Cup, but struggled to oust Marcos Alonso and Ben Chilwell.

Emerson was part of the Italy squad that won Euro 2020 this summer and started in the final against England at Wembley.

He made four appearances in the tournament, becoming Italy’s starting left-back after Roma’s Leonardo Spinazzola was injured in a quarter-final win over Belgium.

Meanwhile, Milan believe they are close to an agreement to sign Tiemue Bakayoko after meeting with his representatives in Milan on Thursday.

The 27-year-old moved to Chelsea from Monaco in 2017 for £ 40m and has loans from Milan, Monaco and Napoli.
