The Italian left-back, who won the euro, attracted a lot of interest from Napoli.

But Lyon won the race for the 27-year-old’s signature by announcing it Twitter

The French club also reportedly agreed to permanently sign Emerson at the end of the season change.

Lyon boss Peter Bosch is in seventh heaven with the signing of a contract with Emerson and said that the Italian is already impressive in training.

He said: “Damien da Silva has a lot of experience. He transfers his desire to win, to work, to the team.

“I’m happy that Emerson Palmieri happened. He was in a big club where you always have to win, like an Italian team.

“Emerson has a good left leg. This was his first training session.

“I will talk to him to find out how it went. We’ll see tomorrow if he is ready for the match against Clermont.

“If he is ready, it will be an additional opportunity.”

Emerson expressed joy at the transition Instagram, stating that he is looking forward to a “new mission”.

He signed the message: “New club, new mission. Together. Allez, Lyon “.

Emerson became the sixth Chelsea star to leave the club this summer, alongside Kenedy, Michie Batshuayi, Matt Miazga, Billy Gilmore and Jake Clark-Salter.

But it is becoming increasingly unlikely that Trevo Chalobah will join some of his teammates on loan.

The 22-year-old has had fantastic pre-season training and Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel has confirmed that the “logical” decision is to stay.

Tuchel said: “He had fantastic pre-season training, a fantastic player and the best character with both feet on the ground.

“He used his chance very impressively and it makes sense that he stays with us. We absolutely want to keep it.

“I don’t know anything about the contract situation.

“This is a good moment to stay with the group and take further steps to achieve your dreams. He deserves it. This is not a gift. “
